Men with Tools book 1For the book cover, I was just expecting a fast and sexy reading; but this book surprised me in a very good way.
It is indeed a fast reading ( I started it around 10 pm and finished it after midnight) and it definitely has plenty of sex, but it also features a well rounded plot with an original twist. Rye and Alaina are great together and very likeable.
Though I assume there will be more about their relationship in the next books in the series, it does have a proper ending and can be read alone.
Anyway, I particularly enjoyed the secondary characters and the possibilities that are presented about them. Only the late hour prevent me from starting the next book right away. Looking forward to reading the stories about Rye's brothers and Alaina's friends!

This is definitely a change from my regular reading. I loved the characters. I especially liked the history plot to this story. The main characters were so sweet and the other brothers were a great addition.
It was a tad hard to get into the book at first.. But once it got going.. It was a very good story. Great love scenes, good mystery, I believe I will be getting the rest of this series to see what happens with the brothers and Alaina's housemates. )
A bit of spice, romance and the supernatural.
A believable story of a woman going back to her childhood town.
She meets up with the boy of her dreams that turned out to be a hot, handsome hunk.
Together they fix an old house as well as heat up the sheets.
Nice.
Alaina comes back to Lanville and purchases an old home that she plans to turn into a bed and breakfast. She hires Rye and his brothers construction company to do the renovations.
Rye and Alaina fall into lust the minute they see each other. But once Rye discovers that she is the sister of the woman who humiliated him, he says he wants nothing to do with her.
Rye soon learns that she's nothing like her sister.
During the renovation a 75 year old murder conviction is cleared up with the help of a ghost.
A wonderful mystery / romance short story. Alaina has returned to her childhood neighborhood with the intention of buying an old deserted house. She plans on restoring the house and making it into a bed and breakfast. She hires the man that had once been engaged to her older sister. That romance ended badly and once he knows that she is the sister of his X-fiance he wants nothing to do with her. Unfortunately Alaina has had a crush on him since she was in her early teens and wants to persue the relationship. A mystery deveolps along with a ghost sighting as they work together restoring the house. There is plenty of good loving and a fun mystery. I found this to be a very enjoyable read.
This was a fun read. Construction, murder mystery and lots of steamy romance make for an enjoyable book. Good character chemistry and supporting cast help move the story along.
The romance between Rye and Alaina has to get past not only the recent history of Rye dating her loser sister, but scandals from two generations ago. Alaina is determined to revive the old Victorian house where her great-great aunt was killed, supposedly by Rye's great-grandfather. She hires Rye's family construction company to do all the extensive repairs, but doesn't count on seeing the ghost of the murdered girl or on the strong attraction between her and Rye. As Alaina and Rye work on the house and on their relationship, the ghost leads her to clues hidden in the house, that will help name the real murderer. Since Rye is the oldest of triplets, his equally attractive brothers feature in books two and three for this author, along with Alaina's two best friends.
Heat factor hot.
I read this when it was available as a KINDLE book. It had lots of heat... a dash of mystery.... and a splash of humor. I'm sorry to see the other brothers, Dax & Griff, stories are now only available as regular books.
This was a quick read with well developed characters & for once, a feisty heroine. I wish Lafleur did more books, she has a talent w/story tellings that makes the reader wish they were one of the characters.
If you like a solid story w/a good dose of heat.... you'll enjoy this tale.
